The
2010 Shanghai World Expo is under way, and in
just its first month more than seven million people
have visited the Expo. Every day, people from

the Beauty of Chengdu, Sichuan Province |

Chengdu,
the capital of Sichuan Province, is located
in the center of the Chengdu Plain, or Tian
Fu Zhi Guo, which literally means, country
of heaven, a reference to the regions
breathtaking beauty. The city, with more
than 4,500 years of civilization, is known
throughout China as China's Best Tourist
City.
Chengdu
has a reputation as a city of leisure featuring
beautiful natural scenery, authentic teahouses,
world-famous spicy Sichuan Food, and delicious
snacks and spirits. One of Chengdu's specialities
is the hot pot (huokuo) which has a long
history as one of the most popular and traditional
hot pots in China. It originated in the
north, where people have to fend off the

south during the Tang dynasty (A.D. 618-906).
